Set in the very near future, the plot evolves quickly, moving from a scientist who finds himself killing his co-conspirator, to a prison corporation CEO that devises the deaths of 13 inmates in order to cover up his larger crimes, to a famous criminologist/mystery writer who becomes entangled with a beautiful, violet-eyed geneticist and tries to uncover why she is being targeted. The Premise explores the extremes of human nature and ingenuity, and through its many twists and didn't-see-that-coming revelations, convincingly makes the case that humanity can indeed create a better future. Strap yourself in for one helluva ride. The Premise is an adventure you won't want to put down!

Great Effort from a first time author. The Premise of the Premise is an interesting Science Twist wrapped in military technology with an overlay of greed and power. I'm an avid reader and consume everything from literary fiction, autobiographies, historical fiction, and suspense (Stephen King, John Grisham, Ken Follet, Tom Clancy, Suzanne Collins, Veronica Roth). The back story of this book is a compelling look at science and technology efforts to address new cures for disease, ending world hunger, etc. On the surface who could possibly argue against this possible Utopian outcome. But enter elected officials, the military, and corporate America and the outcome is pretty much the disaster you expect. The number of twists in this book may require some hand-holding for other readers to be able to follow. However, as I said I read a lot so I can draw many assumptions for myself and didn't require quite as much of the back story explanation. But for a first time online published book - I'm Amazed. The Premise was a good read and makes you think about the amount of influence corporate America can have on our government funds that will impact the research and science to improve our lives and the lives of others. Except for the typos and a few editing errors this book is an exceptional quick read. It is mysterious, and has lots of action for men with just enough romance for woman. A good read.
Great book! Loved it loved it loved it!!! My friend is doing his dissertation at the Univ of Glasgow on security in transportation. I told him that we just need to find the cure for evil instead after reading your book. I so wish this was a possibility.

This novel kept up the twist and turns all the way with lots of excitement. Anyone who loves intrigue with a twist of excitement will love reading this book. It is also the type of story to get you thinking and one you could easily be apart of. The end was satisfying and yet you want to hear more about the characters. I give five stars because I throughly enjoyed this book and I know you would too.
I was hooked on the first page. I am an avid reader, and that seldom happens.
If you are looking for intrigue, adventure, romance sans crapy sex scenes, futuristic (but actually current) science, thrills, twists and turns, then this is the book for you.
I won't write a synopsis, just a critique and my opinion.
It is hard to believe that this story was penned by a first time author; an incredible debut novel! The plot is tightly thought out (just when you think you know it all, you don't), the character development is delightful and the main characters become very real people, and the premise of the story is believable. Ina few places, the story requires you to suspend what you think is reality; then you realize it COULD happen. Definitely a thought provoking read!

This is a fantastic book! I could hardly put it down every time I picked it up. It intertwines a great mystery/murder story, and at the same time, integrates a few issues burdening the U.S. political system at this time in history. It moves very fast, but it still allows the reader to understand and appreciate the different characters who are integral to the development of the story. I highly recommend.
